Notes

Inscription:
In memory of
John Sherman
who departed this life
December 24th 1819
In the 74th year of his age
In him was united and displayed
the affectionate husband and the tender parent, the sincere friend
and the Pious Christean

From care and pain from sin and
Sorrow freed here rest the ashes
Of a Saint indeed whose patience
Faith no suffering hour could move
Whose hope grew stronger and more
Pure his love true to his Lord in every
Safe resind he bore his constance meek
And lowly mind till at his word his
Spirit soared away to see his face
Through heavens unclouded day.
